Mid August and so much to do in Powell Rivers Outdoors.
Salmon Fishing:Remains steady for most, however slower for others. The major runs have gone through and there will be spotty days.Try and fish first light or 6pm until dark, the late bite has been very good and so has the early am bite.Mid day can be very spotty,as there is a larger bite window.Coho Pt has been good for the late bite, many Chinooks coming in,but you have to hang in for late bite and of course many boats.Harwood Sanbanks is definetly a place to go,fewer boats and good fishing.Lund area has slowed a bit but has picked up again. This area just produced a nice Halibut.Lang Creek,Black pt and the Mill will start heating up now with our hatchery fish returning,Be sure your leaders are good, you are going to get into some nice fish in the next couple weeks.I believe starting Aug 15 you may retain any Coho beetween Black Pt and Scotch Fr Pt.Will try and find out later today. The slot size for Chinook will end Sept. 1st in our area and also the Chinook daily limit will go to 2.
For Black Pt fishing,Anchovies,Glow Hoochies and bright colored spoons with scent will produce. Also A,M, and Late afternoon – eve is best.
